 Gully Boy is a Indian Hindi-language musical drama film directed by Zoya Akhtar, and written by Zoya Akhtar, Reema Kagti, and Jinu Abraham. It stars Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in lead roles, and follows Murad, a street rapper from the Dharavi slums of Mumbai.



The movie follows Murad, a young street rapper from a slum of Mumbai who has dreams and aspirations of becoming big in the rap game. The film dealt with a lot of social issues like classism, gender inequality, employer employee struggles and more. The title of the movie has been taken from a popular street slang which refers to an underdog or someone who has worked hard to overcome his circumstances. Gully Boy was produced by Tiger Baby Films, Excel Entertainment and Zoya Akhtars production house which produced popular movies likeZindagi Na Milegi Dobara. The movie received wide critical acclaim from critics and audiences alike and got lots of nominations in major award shows. It was also selected as the Indian entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 92nd Academy Awards but unfortunately couldnt make it to the list of nominees. Gully Boy is a beautiful story that talks about real-life struggles and what its like to pursue your dreams in the face of adversity. Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt gave powerhouse performances in the film and even won several awards for their respective roles. Gully Boy was particularly praised for its unique soundtracks which were composed and produced by renowned hip-hop independent artist Divine. Overall, Gully Boy is an inspiring story about an underdog who overcomes all odds and achieves success and fame. It is definitely one of the best films to come out of Bollywood in recent years and it has earned its place as a milestone in Indian cinema.
